The Fall – Kinder of Spine

From the new LP (Re-Mit), this is a pulsing garagey stomp that features some great keyboards and typically obtuse lyrics. But what makes it different is that Mark E Smith has never sounded so vulnerable. Well, for a few lines anyway: “Dear spider. Hello spider. Help me spider.” It’s almost as if he’s asking for someone to throw a brick into the web that has him trapped.

  1. If you’re in the mood for something garage-y, I’m currently listening to and enjoying the new Sonny & the Sunsets album. It’s strongly reminiscent of Ariel Pink – but it’s good all the same. I don’t listen to enough of this kind of stuff!
