Cher – Where Do You Go?

Written and produced by Sonny Bono, this was the first single from Cher’s second LP, 1965’s aptly titled The Sonny Side of Cher. Folk rock filtered through Phil Spector, its portentous lyric is probably some kind of comment on the then 18-year-old Cher and his relationship with her. Charming enough, and not too far removed from any other grandiose, Dylan-influenced pop song of the time, it’s lifted by Cher’s powerful, knowing vocal.
